Half Belgian, Half Paint but all heart. Shawnee came Jim and Cindy's out of love, not mistreatment. Shawnee never had a foal of her own but raised 4 orphaned foals. She was my best friend in the barn and was there to listen every time I needed someone to talk to.

Those that will be foster Mom's are so special. They are those with old souls who love so much and so deeply. So sorry for your loss. Each takes a piece of our hearts when we lose them.
ReplyDeleteShawnee was the best foster mom anyone could ask for. She even took in a foal from another rescue that wasn't but a few weeks old. We fed him goat milk and she would never interfere with his feedings. She protected him at all costs as she did with all the foals at the rescue. Another horse that will sadly be missed!
ReplyDeleteShawnee was a part of my life for many years. She lived with me at my home with one other horse and a mini. When I was going through a divorce, I opted to give Shawnee to Cindy as her personal riding horse rather than sell her to someone I didn't know. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, I loved her so much but I could only keep one and my draft was still a baby. I could still see her whenever I wanted which helped alot. Thank you Cindy and Jim for that! Shawnee and I spent so much time together riding, camping or just standing out in the pasture with her just to be near her. When I listened to Cindy's message that they had a barn fire I held my breath while she named the horses that were gone. I kept thinking, no please no don't say her name and then she did. I literally dropped to my knees and cried from the bottom of my soul. Shawnee was so fortunate to have been loved by so many people in her life. I love her so much that it's hard to believe that God can love her more But He Does. I believe she is with him now. Shawnee you will be forever in my heart I Love You. Linda S
